This Melissa & Doug Dinosaur Stamp Set is brilliant value for money. There’s a great selection of realistic dinosaurs including Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Pterodactyl and of course T-Rex. And the volcano is a nice touch. As I write this, my toddler and preschooler boys are having a lovely time creating dinosaur scenes with their stamps. My four year old just called me over to say the ‘T-Rexes are surrounded by volcanoes!’ I don’t see how you could fail to get your money’s worth from these. Age 4-8.

Melissa & Doug make excellent quality jigsaw puzzles. The pieces are nice and thick so they actually stay together which avoids frustration. We particularly like this Dinosaurs floor puzzle because it's big. It's three feet long so the kids actually have to move to complete it. And of course, the fierce T-Rex that dominates the picture is a major attraction! Age 3+.

Dino Dan is a TV show for preschoolers and little kids. We love this show not just because it features dinosaurs, but also because it teaches the scientific method. Not in a dull boring way, but through observing dinosaurs. Yes, we think that's cool.

Here's the trailer for Season 1. Dan Henderson is a 10 year old kid who sees dinosaurs everywhere. And this kid has a great imagination, the dinosaurs are brilliantly colored!

Dinosaur toys are timeless, kids have been fascinated with dinosaurs since they were first discovered. Our boys love dinosaurs and the toys available today are amazing. Their Dad still has some of his dinosaur toys from when he was a boy! This makes me want to keep hold of some of the boys dinosaur toys in case they have children they want to pass them on to.

4th Birthday Volcano Cake with Fondant Dinosaurs

Our older son just turned four and asked for a volcano cake with dinosaurs. We had great fun making this!

I baked two chocolate sponge cakes which we cut into a volcano shape and poured melted chocolate over. Once the chocolate set we added red fondant lava.

I made a T-Rex, Stegosaurus, Dimetrodon, Triceratops, Parasaurolophus and Pterodactyl from colored fondant. We had a very happy four year old!

Snow is coming - time for a sled!

The weather is getting very wintery! Last year it was tricky to buy a sled locally once the snow arrived so this year we're prepared and I've bought the boys a red sled each. If it doesn't snow before Christmas they'll get them as Christmas gifts.
